The results of the Easy@Home Breastmilk Alcohol Test Strips will show the concentration of alcohol in breastmilk in a scale from 0.02% (20mg/dL) to 0.30%(300mg/dL). This is represented by the intensity of the blue color. The darker the color, the higher concentration of alcohol in your breastmilk.

Results should be read at 2 minutes by visually comparing the color of the reaction pad with the color chart to determine the relative alcohol level. DO NOT interpret the result after 3 minutes.

The Easy@Home Breastmilk Alcohol Test Strips was designed exclusively to detect the alcohol presence in breast milk only. Please do run with other liquids, link wine, beer or liquor.

For the best results mink should be at least room temperature, preferably – body temperature. However, it should be effective while it is cold.

Alcohol reaches its max concentration within 30-90+ minutes of its consumption. Alcohol absorption isn’t immediate, although absorption does start in the mouth. Once you stop drinking, the alcohol level gradually falls as it leaves the breast milk and your bloodstream. How long it takes to completely leave the system varies greatly from person to person. This is why you’ll hear to wait 2-4 hours per drink before providing breast milk to your baby.

Every woman’s metabolism is different, but on average it’s ok for a breastfeeding mom to have an occasional or celebratory drink in the amount of 1 oz of liquor, 4 oz of wine or 12 oz beer.

The American Academy of Pediatrics says that anything over a 0.03 blood alcohol level is considered ‘unsafe’ for the baby. Since breast milk is made from blood, it’s important to give your body enough time to metabolize the alcohol in your blood stream before breastfeeding your baby.

These work really well. I missed having a couple drinks while pregnant. Now I can check my milk and feel that I am not putting my baby at any risk. I would buy these again!
