Testing Tips

Know Your Cycle Pattern

The duration of the luteinizing hormone (LH) surge, which prompts the release of an egg, can differ from woman to woman. This surge may reach its peak rapidly within a few hours (known as “rapid onset”), or it may gradually increase over up to six days before ovulation (referred to as “gradual onset”).

Test at the Right Time

For accurate ovulation testing, it’s best to test from noon to early evening as this provides the most precise concentration for testing. If the test line begins to darken, it’s advisable to test twice per day.

Cross-check Symptoms

You can complement ovulation tests with additional methods such as basal body temperature (BBT) charts, progesterone (PdG) tests, cervical mucus (CM) tracking, and monitoring other ovulation symptoms. This comprehensive approach allows you to cross-reference results and gain a deeper understanding of your fertility window.

Product FAQs

For ovulation tests, it’s best not to use morning urine. Luteinizing hormones (LH) appear in the urine in the afternoon, so collect samples then, ideally at the same time daily. To ensure accuracy, reduce liquids two hours before collecting urine. Some suggest testing every 12 hours to catch the short LH surge. Once a test line appears, test multiple times daily to catch the surge.

Our ovulation test detects the FDA-recommended LH hormone cut-off level of 25 mlU/ml to prevent false positives. It can predict an LH surge 24-48 hours before ovulation, aiding in cycle tracking. Start testing daily for 5 days after calculating your personalized ovulation cycle, using our included chart for convenience.

Ovulation test works by identifying the reproductive hormone called luteinizing hormone, or LH. This hormone is ever present in your urine but its levels increase significantly 24 to 48 hours prior to ovulation. The LH surge triggers ovulation, which is when the egg is released in healthy fertile women. Medical studies have proven that LH testing is a reliable way to detect ovulation. By detecting this sudden LH surge, ovulation tests help you predict with great accuracy, exactly when you will ovulate.

If your cycle is 21 days or less, the best time to start testing would be at about day 5 of your cycle (counting one from the 1st day of your period). If your cycle is longer than 40 days, you can start testing roughly 17 days before you expect your next period. Again, we recommend testing for several days in order to find your peak time.

It is recommended to read the result after 3 minutes, even though the result may be observed as soon as 1 minute, in order to give the strip enough time to finish the reaction. Do not read initial results after 5 minutes.

The ovulation window is about 24-48 hours long. Because sperm can survive for 3-5 days however, your window of fertility can be considered to be between 5-7 days long, but it is the tortoise and the hare scenario to meet up. Once a positive result occurs, the best time to conceive would be within the 24-48 hour time frame.

LH levels can rise without ovulation, especially if a woman is unwell or stressed. Conditions like PCOS or POF can also lead to higher LH levels, affecting ovulation test results. Synthetic hormones, early pregnancy, or fertility medications like Clomid can cause false positives. Two lines don’t always mean a positive result; the test line must be as dark as or darker than the control line within 3-5 minutes. Avoid reading results after 5 minutes to prevent inaccuracies, as the test may darken as it dries but could still indicate a false positive.

Common reasons for invalid test results include insufficient urine, dipping the strip past the maximum line, using old or diluted urine, inadequate time for the strip to sit in the sample, and rare instances of using expired or improperly stored test strips.

These are fantastic. They are very easy to read and very easy to use. The instructions are very clear and simple. I love that you can download an app to help you decide when you should test. Great value for the price. Tests can be very expensive especially when you’re trying to conceive and this test kit makes it very affordable.
